Interview Loop Coverage Score
Interview Loop Coverage: Which competencies each stage of a hiring loop is assigned to assess. Good coverage tests every required competency once or twice and none four or more times.
How many rounds should an interview loop have?
Four for most mid-level roles and five for senior, staff and manager roles. Past that, extra rounds mostly retest competencies already covered. Assign every required competency to one or two stages before adding rounds.

How to apply it
- List the competencies the role needs at its level.
- List each stage and what its interviewer actually asks about.
- Count how many stages test each competency.
- Give every untested competency an owner.
- Trim anything tested four or more times, and cut rounds with no job left.
